Our Story

movr is a movement training app aiming to change the way the world moves, thinks, and talks about our bodies.

Our free, easy-to-use app offers a practical and personal approach to reducing tension, fixing pain points, and feeling better in your body – every single day.

Our Mission

Our goal is to make functional personal training and measurable improvement accessible for everyone.

We strive to enable better movement for a more fulfilled life – no matter what.

Our Method

The movr app offers a new kind of physical training experience. We deliver this using two main approaches:

1. Personal Goals – tailored to meet the unique needs of every individual, you’ll always have a clear path to making improvement that feels as good as it looks.

2. Group Challenges – stay connected, work toward a common goal and develop a healthy daily habit together. movr groups offer a light-hearted way to stay active with your community.

Aaron de Jong, Founder and CEO

In 2014, Aaron opened Movement108 – a boutique training studio in Vancouver dedicated to fostering community, education and healthy movement.

In 2015, he founded movr with the same goals – just on a bigger scale. As a certified personal trainer with a degree in physical education, Aaron plays a fundamental role in continuing to develop the methodology that drives both the studio and the app, helping people move and feel better along the way.

A WORD FROM THE FOUNDER

My goal is for people to recognize a self-limiting belief, and then understand that they can experience their body – and their life – in a more fulfilling way.

Collaborations

Everything is better with friends. We’re partnering up to help build and promote an accessible approach to healthy movement training that really works.

We’re Dreaming Big

lululemon’s Whitespace Explorations team is all about thinking big (really big). They’re looking to the future of health and wellness by working with start-ups, leaders in emerging technology, and the most advanced research institutions in the world.

With the first investment of its kind, lululemon and the Explorations team put their support behind movr in 2019. Together, we are striving to push the boundaries of the digital wellness landscape to make intelligent movement training accessible for everyone.

Serious About Science

We teamed up with a leading Canadian university to study how movr helps you move. The research examines how training with the movr app impacts a variety of real-life variables.

We know we need to change how the world thinks and talks about healthy bodies, while also deepening our understanding of how best to move in the modern world. That’s why we’re committed to a high scientific standard that helps us all learn, grow, and move through life towards a healthier future.

Forward-thinking Education

movr is helping classrooms of all levels think outside the box and embrace a modern approach to personalizing physical education.

We’re working with faculty across Canada to better understand how movr can be used to improve learning outcomes for students and ease the load on teachers.
